The radicals, it seems to me, wish to establish their own brand of Islam, and they don't care how many people they kill in the process. In fact, they seem to love death and killing.

Here is a Reuters report on the Jakarta bombings, and, as is usual in their mealy-mouthed reporting, they refer to the terrorists as "militants."  I guess Reuters didn't want to offend anyone. :ninja:

Dear Suyanto Tirta,

I have said a prayer for the terrorist tragedy unfolding in Jakarta, I am so sorry...and less than three days after the violent deaths in Manchester, England.

* * *

As to the purpose of the radicals, after the 1995 bombing in Oklahoma City in the USA, I did look into why our domestic terrorists had done such a horrendous thing. What I learned is that Timothy McVeigh and Terry Nichols believed that the US government was corrupt beyond retrieval; and that they hoped their attack in Oklahoma would turn the whole nation against each other, into domestic anarchy and civil war.

* * *

It is possible the international terrorists now have a similar goal - turning everyone against each other, with the belief that their way of radical Islam will prevail (although apparently, in Jakarta no group has claimed credit yet).

But in any case, I think that we who love peace must now stand together ALL OVER THE WORLD and go after the perpetrators together with our commitment to justice and reason, and most of all we must not react out of fear...

We must not attack each other, we must stand together.

Dear Virgiania, thank you for your opinion.
There are some reviews:
ISIS are some very sick minded people. An article that's almost a year old from an British paper claims to be a 15th edition of an ISIS document. It's pasted below.

In an article entitled 'Why We Hate you and Want to Fight You', the 15th edition of the terrorists' periodical Dabiq spells out why the jihads are hell bent on destroying the West.

The poisonous 'listicle-style' feature opens by glorifying Omar Mateen's murderous rampage at Pulse gay nightclub in Orlando .

It begins: "Shortly following the blessed attack on a sodomite, Crusader nightclub by the mujahid Omar Mateen, American politicians were quick to jump into the spotlight and denounce the shooting, declaring it a hate crime, an act of terrorism, and an act of senseless violence.

"A hate crime? Yes. Muslims undoubtedly hate liberalist sodomites, as does anyone else with any shred of their fitrah (inborn human nature) still intact.

"An act of terrorism? Most definitely. Muslims have been commanded to terrorize the disbelieving enemies of Allah."

The writer then goes on to list the top six reasons why the killers want to destroy the West - although they appear to be two points made several times.

1. Because you are disbelievers

"We hate you, first and foremost, because you are disbelievers; you reject the oneness of Allah – whether you realize it or not – by making partners for Him in worship, you blaspheme against Him, claiming that He has a son, you fabricate lies against His prophets and messengers, and you indulge in all manner of devilish practices."

2 . Because you are liberal

"We hate you because your secular, liberal societies permit the very things that Allah has prohibited while banning many of the things He has permitted, a matter that doesn’t concern you because you Christian disbelief and paganism 32 separate between religion and state, thereby granting supreme authority to your whims and desires via the legislators you vote into power."

3. Because some of you are atheist

"In the case of the atheist fringe, we hate you and wage war against you because you disbelieve in the existence of your Lord and Creator."

4. For your crimes against Islam

"We hate you for your crimes against Islam and wage war against you to punish you for your transgressions against our religion."

5. For your crimes against Muslims

"We hate you for your crimes against the Muslims; your drones and fighter jets bomb, kill, and maim our people around the world, and your puppets in the usurped lands of the Muslims oppress, torture, and wage war against anyone who calls to the truth."

6. For invading our lands

ISIS terror threat to Channel ferries: Security fears over jihadists boarding UK-bound ship and executing passengers

"We hate you for invading our lands and fight you to repel you and drive you out. As long as there is an inch of territory left for us to reclaim, jihad will continue to be a personal obligation on every single Muslim."

The article concludes that while foreign policy is an issue, the main reason they are hell bent on destruction is because they don't like the West very much.

It reads: "What’s important to understand here is that although some might argue that your foreign policies are the extent of what drives our hatred, this particular reason for hating you is secondary, hence the reason we addressed it at the end of the above list.

"The fact is, even if you were to stop bombing us, imprisoning us, torturing us, vilifying us, and usurping our lands, we would continue to hate you because our primary reason for hating you will not cease to exist until you embrace Islam."

I can't find the words, Suyanto, to express how sorry I am to see all this senseless, sick-minded murdering going on, shortly after the Manchester attack.

Hate-mongering, mind control and violence have nothing to do with devotion and respect.

My thoughts and prayers go to all the victims, their families, friends and, of course, to all our friends here.

Today is Ascension Day, a spiritual day of thinking, loving, praying, remembering, compassion - and hope.

@Suyanto

Religious principles and interpretations have been misused since ages to favour those in control of wealth and power.

Hello, Suyanto, yes, here's a little suggestion:

"Yes, that is possible.

Sadly enough, hypocrisy is wide spread."
