Interesting article. It seems like Democrats are lining up to make statements about Trump. I can believe some of it concerning NATO as I know that if something happened over there? Maybe the Poles would jump up to honor their agreement while the other countries sat on their hands. So ,yes we must think of ourselves in a worst case scenario. Nice to have Allies but I highly doubt any would get involved.

I also see much more left wing fascism than I do from the right.

She has a couple of points there but that's about it. Trump may not be the best for our country but the alternative is much worse. Her book looks just like another way of promoting left wing fascism than promoting the actual truth.

It'll never happen here although we are ripe for a change but it isn't fascism. Just a good solid President and leader.

I still think Ronald Reagan was the best President in some time now. We could use another leader like him again!

Yes, Rooster, even the NY Times had to grudgingly admit that Reagan and John-Paul II hastened the fall of European communism.

O'Tink, I got kinda irritated with the article, it just seems like another ho-hum Trump bash. If Albright HAS any points to make, I think she needs to separate them out from her tired personal bias.

1. Seems to me EVERYBODY with an axe to grind says, "Oh this thing I don't like (fill in the blank) leads to Nazism."

2. Yes our nation USA needs us all to work toward its ideals, but that won't happen by polarizing, as in "Oh, all we have to do is get rid of Trump/Obama, Republicans/Democrats (again fill in whatever blank you wish) and then we are okay." I think We need to get away from polarization and look deeper.

3. And just a point of order? As I BEGIN to learn about government/economy, I do recall that fascism is by definition right-wing, term began with Mussolini, although yes I do see what you mean, the authoritarian intolerance of campus "liberals." From online dictionary:

an authoritarian and nationalistic right-wing system of government and social organization. Fascism tends to include a belief in the supremacy of one national or ethnic group, a contempt for democracy, an insistence on obedience to a powerful leader, • (in general use) extreme right-wing, authoritarian, or intolerant views or practice.

I have seen that definition before, Virginia, and it fits Stalinist Russia to a T, the only exception being state ownership of the means of production.  The political spectrum is a ring; if you go far enough left, you will meet the the far right in nearly all aspects of government behavior that count, especially as they regard treatment of the individual.

She writes about Trump, Putin and communist regimes in a book about fascism. Serious authors would make a difference between fascism and other kinds of regimes and ideologies.

I think Albright is not a serious author; her only purpose was to write a polemic against Trump.

It is true.
