A lot of the art of the romantic period is unjustly classified as "chocolate-boxy". Perhaps those critics are too sophisticated to enjoy simple beauty. Personally, I love the stuff

Perhaps this one isn't typical of romantic art but the power of the thing has always grabbed me.

I like this one as well.  How on earth do they develop that kind of talent.  There are still so many illustrations to fill this thread up with.
