Running old games on Windows 8

Hi, I recently bought a Windows 8 laptop and I´m happy with it except that I can´t play most of my games on it which I used to play on my older Windows 7 laptop. Is there still any way to run these games on my new pc? Like what are the best programs for it?

Windows 8 supports only the latest games and some old games wont run on the Windows 8 which is one of the drawback of the Windows 8. You can use the Windows 7 on any Windows virtualization softwares like VMware or Virtualbox within your Windows 8. So you can play those games on the Windows 7 which is installed on the Windows 8.

Have you ever tried to change the properties? I´m not sure if it works for games but it has worked on softwares. Just right click on the program- go to properties- then compability and change it to Windows 8 if there is an option for that.
