Even in Winter, when it's supposed to be cold and snowy if you live North of, say, South Carolina to California, most people want warm Spring-like weather and when it occurs, they are so happy. Perhaps a better question should be: "Why do most people hate Winter?"
Now, I'm exactly the opposite as I prefer cold weather and people will likely ask: "Why do you prefer cold weather?" Let me tell you why.
I suffer with chronic problems, most notably allergies and asthma. While these problems occur all year-round, they are noticeably much worse when the weather is warm than when it's cold. It's a long story and, unless people come here to my house to see it firsthand, they really won't understand. To them, it's like: "Just take something for your problems and enjoy the warm weather." First of all, no matter what I take, nothing seems to work (most of the time), especially in warm weather. And secondly, when they do work, it takes too long and the effects don't last long enough.
People don't understand how bad these problems really are for me. I've had all-nighters and I average about 3 to 5 hours of sleep, leaving me exhausted during the day. I can't even take a shower because the last time I tried to, I had an asthma attack...a really bad one, I might add. At best, all I can do is wash myself (not very well, I might add) with paper towels, soap, and water from time to time.
My hatred of warm weather came during the Summer of 2010. In early July, a very unusual heat wave struck as far North as Maine where daytime temps soared into the 90s with high humidity and nighttime temps barely dropped into the 70s. Maine felt more like Florida. What's worse is the cottage I stayed at had NO air conditioning because such heat waves are not common and the people who own the cottage can't afford to have them installed. My asthma did not go well during my vacation up there and it's a miracle I even survived at all.
Then, at the end of August and into early September, the same unusual heat wave struck again. This time, I took a vacation to Upstate New York. Thankfully, there was air conditioning this time, but I didn't enjoy myself there either. I pretty much stayed in the hotel room and had no fun at all. Needless to say, I haven't been to either place since 2010 and, since then, I've hated warm and hot weather, which is why I prefer cold weather. There's your answer to why I prefer cold weather. Okay, I'm done with my rant for now.
