Disagree.

What nonsense.  What are they going to do about all the old movies they show on TCM, where the actors smoked like chimneys? Black those scenes out?

Smoking should have no bearing whatever on the rating.

Not quite agree.  I think any movie that depicts smoking should at least be rated...

Of course, other elements involved can change that rating, but if smoking is the only content depicted in a film, then this would be the rating it should get for drug content (hence, smoking).

not even that.

Between 2002 and 2014:

You see it in real life...Why pretend it doesn't happen?...If you want to warn children of the dangers of smoking, then the smoker in the movie (perhaps loveable grandpa) could have some problems because of it....lesson learned.

I don't think so. There are still some G-rated movies that depict people smoking. All of those classic Bette Davis films glamorized smoking because smoking was status quo during those times.

I really disagree.

No. There should be no enforceable rating system whatsoever.  There are enough websites out there that do a Autopsy of every movie for language, sex, violence and other themes for parents to decide for themselves what thier kids watch.
