Hardly any work for me this  year.  I bought mostly online.

The expense don't bother me...I love to give!

Don't get me wrong I spend a lot of money and don't begrudge a penny but we had 16 people over and we were preparing the day before and working hard until people arrived...

I suppose it does in the end. All my kids are grown up and live all over the States, so I generally send gift certificates all over. But I did buy my Basset hound three new squeaker toys for Christmas and it's well worth it to watch him playing with them. So I guess my answer would be Yes !

The expense, is on us. Christmas itself costs nothing. We (and of course, retailers) are the ones that think you have to buy a bunch of crap in order to "celebrate".

You have to eat and drink....that costs when you have guests coming ....

Where do you think the idea of the "pot luck supper" and "BYOB" came from?

We are posh, can't do that, one expects to be fed properly when one visits....

Somethin' to be said for us "po folks" then.

Hehe ....there definitely is....

Yes.  I like buying Christmas presents and making others happy.

I think Christmas will become worthwhile when people spend less time on the idea that spending money is the thing that makes it worthwhile
