Operation Barbarossa.

Napoleon made the same blunder 129 years earlier.

Ego and stupidity got in the way of reality. Thanks for answering. I was beginning to wonder about this place.

You're very welcome.

P.S. You have reason to wonder about this place. I posted a question wondering about this site some months ago, but it recently seems to have disappeared.  :)

My Dad is an Administrator on blurtit.com and it has a lot more traffic than here. He asked me to join there but I don't want to bug him. He told me that he had joined this site months ago but left. Won't say why though.

Maybe it was the quality of the questions (what is your favorite flavor ice cream?, etc).  That actually has improved recently, but traffic still remains only about 60% of what it was six months ago, and there is  still not much interesting discussion. I don't think this site will ever achieve critical mass.

Well, as John Wayne is reported to have said, "Talk low, talk slow, and don't say too much."

That's sounds like Rooster Cogburn all right ! My Dad loves that guy! Guess he got to meet him in Vietnam.

Well, I am late again: I already answered on another site that I was thinking of the launching of "Nazi-Operation Barbarossa".

Well Hitman, I did not even know the name of it, had to look it up...and did not remember that it was launched June 22.

(German: Unternehmen Barbarossa) was the code name for Nazi Germany's invasion of the Soviet Union during World War II, which was launched on Sunday 22 June 1941. The operation was driven by an ideological desire to conquer the Western Soviet Union so that it could be repopulated by Germans, to use Slavs as a slave labour force for the Axis war-effort, and to seize the oil reserves in the Caucasus and the agricultural resources throughout the Soviet territories..."

I DID know that both Napoleon and Germany made the same mistake...you do NOT want to be trying to invade Russia when there is any chance of winter coming on within the next ten years...:'(
