Not around here as I don't live in any city. But my Dad is a Vietnam Vet and maybe I'll buy it for him as it "looks" interesting. I'll have to check it out good first as he's real sensitive about that subject matter.

I never saw anyone displaying the book on the street, nor did I see (at least to my knowledge) anyone wearing medals they hadn't earned.

I have a few but my Dad got a Silver Star, a Bronze Star and three Purple Hearts. If either of us saw someone wearing medals they didn't earn ? BAM ! You get the idea.

You and your Dad are true blue.  Thank you for your outstanding service.

No, but I am conscient that such business is widespread everywhere, whether legal or illegal. There are lots of people adorning themselves with borrowed plumes ...

Regarding the book: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stolen_Valor

there have been articles about how the "Vietnam generation" was robbed of its heroes.

And the illegal business with second-hand or fake medals is, of course, known since long: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/magazine/8454715.stm
