Mr. Meyer: “Doctor, you remember this strengthening solution you prescribed me yesterday?”

Doctor: “Yes, what’s the matter?”

Mr. Meyer: “I would like to use it but I can’t open the bottle!”

They're getting more inventive every day! LOL.  :D :D

Lol, Rooster - the "mute" version seems to make sense: there must have been a very loud ouch ...

TheOtherTink Nov 11, 2017

Pulling corks is for the hoi polloi.  :P

Virginia TheOtherTink Nov 11, 2017

Well O'Tink that fellow has never lived in logging country...not only do we stir our coffee with our thumbs, but when we want a bottle of likker we just hit the neck on the counter top and drink from the jagged edge...

TheOtherTink TheOtherTink Nov 11, 2017

@ Viriginia,

At 1000 degrees below zero, no doubt:D  (a physically impossible temperature! )

But the logger's method would be frowned upon in a fancy French restaurant.  The sommelier would faint on the spot.  :O

Virginia TheOtherTink Nov 11, 2017

Yes it's true, O'Tink...sadly most of the sommeliers who find themselves in SW Washington State end up fainting on whatever spot they may occupy...:silly: (sigh)

Marianne TheOtherTink Nov 12, 2017

Lol, T(h)ink, and there are also less "civilised methods" to open a bottle of wine - or champagne - no need to blame the "loggers" - lol:

And I remember that we had, sometimes, problems with a crumbling cork ...

As to more radical methods:

TheOtherTink TheOtherTink Nov 12, 2017

Marianne, I like the pot method the best.  :D

Marianne TheOtherTink Nov 12, 2017

Lol, T(h)ink, I suppose that you are referring to the "coolest way" to open a bottle.

TheOtherTink TheOtherTink Nov 13, 2017

No, I was referring the pot method of the ones offered in your clip, but I agree the coolest way is better.  :D

Marianne TheOtherTink Nov 14, 2017

Lol, thank you, T(h)ink, I'll have to note the term "pot method".

Virginia Nov 11, 2017

Marianne, this is one of the major frustrations of remaining single all my life...whenever there is a difficult bottle or jar to open, I have to run out into the street and look for a person of the male persuasion to ask for help! :D  <3

TheOtherTink Virginia Nov 11, 2017

@ Virginia,

Physics to the rescue: image

Marianne Virginia Nov 12, 2017

Lol, Virginia, if no man was available, wasn't there any woman who could (or would) help? Or was asking for help subject to male persuasion?

(But I must admit that my aunt had, besides various activities, fruit and vegetable cultures, also a vine yard.)

Funny, sometimes, on our side, also men needed help to open a bottle - lol.

Virginia Virginia Nov 12, 2017

THAT is an impressive lid-opening enterprise, Other Tink!

TheOtherTink Virginia Nov 12, 2017

Where there's a will, there's a way, Virginia.  :D
