I'm always surprised at how many dummies don't have a damn clue to these important dates! What do they teach in school nowadays. Not even my teen daughters would have known any significance to the day if they hadn't been drilled by me about them. At least I got to watch "The Longest Day" last night!

It was sure that Germany would lose the war in 1944. German army was weaker than 1939 and lost an ally, Italy.

This is true, but without the D-Day invasion, the whole of Germany (and perhaps Italy and France too) would have been communist after WW2.
