I have to take a nap because my sleep at night is almost non-existent.  I have frequent all-nighters and when I do sleep in the morning, I often wake an hour or two later and stay awake until at least noon or after.  I've been known to have breakfast or brunch after 4:00 in the afternoon...sometimes as late as 6:00 in the evening.

Now, you may be wondering what on Earth keeps me awake so much.  Well, it varies, but roughly about 60% or 70% of the time, it's due to bad flare ups of nasal and throat congestion that can last from several minutes to several hours.  Most often, it lasts for several hours, which is why I don't sleep much at night, though this seems to happen more often when I wake up an hour or two after I fall asleep in the morning.

I have allergies to quite a few things, including certain foods.  But, my body is not consistent.  You see, sometimes, I can eat things like peanut butter or dairy foods without much of a problem, despite being allergic to both of them.  But, other times when I eat those things, my body reacts very strongly to it in the form of congestion that lasts a long time, as I said above.  And, I never know when my body will react to them or not.  And, sometimes, my body reacts like that without even eating those foods I'm allergic to.

Most of the time, I take natural remedies for such reactions.  But, when the symptoms don't subside after taking them, I take Mucinex DM.  This only works about 20% of the time or less.  When it doesn't work, the symptoms can last for hours before they finally subside on their own.  Sheer exhaustion finally makes me pass out.

Without naps, I'd be dead.  So, yes, I like to take naps in the afternoon or evening or whenever I can to make up for lost sleep.

P.S., I don't know why my body is like this, but this is the reason I don't go out and have a life and why I'm always homebound.
