How do you handle busybodies like this one?

I'm always the soul of tact, Didge... just ask anyone... um, well...  anyone except a certain cowherd, that is.

Somebody once accused me of being as tactful as a Sherman tank. Still, blunt force has served me well over the years. Doesn't win friends, of course, but you can't have everything.

With friends, I try to find a nice way to tell unpleasant truths, if those truths are in fact unpleasant but need to be spoken.

As for rotten people, well, they're in for more blunt language.

I have an old lady neighbor (yes, she's older than me) that's the busy body for the whole town. She usually calls me with neighborhood gossip at least once a week.It's always about the kids in the hood that are "destroying" her home, the neighbor that won't trim his trees that hang over her fence, the ugly new roof that someone just had installed, etc, etc, etc. I usually let her ramble on for 10 minutes then I make an excuse to get off the phone.

I'm nice to her but I can only listen for so long.

I know a guy like that. I hung up on him 18 months ago and (fingers crossed) he hasn't called back since then. I put up with him for years but he got me on a bad day and I just didn't want to listen to the complaints any more.

I had a couple of those on blurtit and I was never sure if I was being used or what, so I just shut up and don't spend much time there now. Been really quiet since. Always some drama going on and I don't miss it.
