A lost fable of Aesop?

A raven is sitting on a tree limb in the woods. Another raven comes by and asks, "What are you doing there?"

"Nothing, just sitting here looking stupid."

"Sounds good, I'll do that too." And the second raven sits down next to the first on the limb.

Soon a rabbit comes by and sees the two ravens. "What are you guys doing up there?"

"Nothing, just sitting here looking stupid."

"I think I'll try that too," says the rabbit, and squats down on the ground beneath the limb.

Not long after, a fox comes along. He sees the rabbit and the two ravens and asks, "What are you guys doing?"

"Nothing. We're just sitting around looking stupid," explains the rabbit.

No sooner has the rabbit finished speaking, the fox jumps on him and eats him up. Then the fox trots off into the woods with a satisfied grin on his face.

"See," says one raven to the other, "it's like I always say: doing nothing and sitting around looking stupid only works when you are in a higher position."

Lol - that is indeed a sarcastic lesson for the ones in a lower, "vulnerable" position trying to oppose the powerful ones.

in society, at work, etc.

or in more primitive conditions:

Hello, T(h)ink, here's another link for a joke, with a similar, rather sad ending: :O:angel::)
