An overworked housewife always looked forward to the hours between 2 and 3 in the afternoon. The kids weren't home from school yet, hubby was away at work and there was no more housework to be done until dinner. This was her alone time, if you know what I mean. 
She was just settling down with a new toy that had arrived that morning in the mail in a plain brown wrapper, when all of a sudden, she was startled to hear the front door opening downstairs.
Hastily putting away the toy and quickly throwing on a robe, she called downstairs, "Who's there?"
"It's me, dear," replied her husband.
"What are you doing home so early? Are you not feeling well?"
"Bad news at the plant. I've been laid off. My job's been taken over by a machine."
