Why is it that (at least around here in New Jersey, anyway) Winter cold snaps come and go within only a couple of days or so while Summer heat waves go on and on through nearly half the year?
We've got a forecast for this weekend cold snap, but it will be quickly followed by Spring-like temperatures by Tuesday. If this were a Summer heat wave, it would be non-stop 80s and 90s with oppressive humidity for days and weeks on end. Cold weather is always far shorter than hot weather. Why?
