Peter and Harry had loved playing and watching baseball since childhood, and had grown up with the sport.
Now they are old men, and Peter is afflicted with a mortal illness. Harry comes to visit, and naturally the discussion turns to baseball. Peter says, "Y'know, I always wondered whether they play baseball in Heaven. I guess I'll soon find out."
"I sure hope they do, Pete," replied Harry. "Say, if they do, could you try to contact me somehow and let me know?"
"I'll certainly try," says Peter. A few days later, he dies.
That evening, Harry is awakened by a spirit presence in his bedroom. "Pete, is that you?"
"Yes it is, Harry, and I have great news. They DO play baseball in heaven. The bad news is that you're pitching on Thursday."
